Swedish White Beam tree and Norway Maple tree

As you walk along the flowing River Itchen you will see a Swedish White Beam tree (Sorbus intermedia) and slightly further up a Norway Maple tree (Acer platanoides). You may also notice a little bit of the old remaining Roman walls! The Swedish White Beam tree leaves are broadly oval, deeply-lobed and dark green. Clusters of white flowers in spring are followed by red berries in autumn. The Norway Maple tree has typical maple shaped leaves which are vivid candy apple green and yellow flowers which have delicate petals emerge on the bare branches in early spring.
